Win32:Host-C is bugging me

During the last 2 days I have been swamped by a Trojan called
"Win32:Host-C". These worms were all caught and eliminated by AVAST,
however. Still, this recurrence is very annoying, and I fear that this beast
has invaded my system.
I have read that this worm disables a number of firewalls and other security
programs (among them the WindowsFirewall and other well known programs).
What can be done to stop that? This worm was discovered first on March 23,
2006 but someone here might have caught it and know more on how to react.

| Thanks for telling and giving advice, but
| how would I know that you or anybody else would answer my question in the
| other NG? I was looking for a quick fix. Both NGs have a different audience,
| except for some who are subscribing several NGs.
| course, if my computer problems were not very pressing I'd have found out
| the appropriate NG.
| Sorry for the trouble.

If you Cross-post, that is post to BTH News Groups at the same time, a reply would also go
to both News Groups at the same time.

There was no trouble, just a slight correction so you'll know for future posts.
Cross-Posting is preferred over Multi-Posting simply because all Cross-Posted News Groups
get all the replies so all benefit from the discussion.

Dave,
one more question

I have posted to both NGs individually (one after each other). How do I know
that a reply would automatically go to both newsgroups?
There might even be more than 2 NGs that deal with viruses. I believe that I
saw only one NG address in the field "Newsgroups" ( Express).
I fully understood your advice on crossposting.

Thanks,
Murgi

PS:
The problem has been solved after running "Webroot Spysweeper" again
However, after that I started to get pestered by "Antispylab" which "found"
numerous spywares etc. Every minute I received popups. Finally I checked the
net and was told to click on "Shileds", "Internet Explorer" and "Reset IE
Page Setting to Defaults". Now I am a happy camper again:-)
Maybe this Antispylab has planted the worm first and came back 3 days later
to follow up with an "unresistable" offer.

The problem with Multi-Posting is that a reply to one group only goes to that one group.
As I tried to explain if you Cross-Post to multiple News Groups the replies go to all News
groups that the post was Cross-Posted to.

In E you would just add the News Groups separated by a comma to the "Netwsgroups:" field.
For example

alt.comp.virus , alt.comp.anti-virus
or
alt.comp.anti-virus ,

Then the post would go to both News Group in the "Netwsgroups:" field.
