    Diffs from 4.0-20070121 are available in the diffs/ subdirectory.
    When a particular snapshot is ready for public consumption the LATEST-4.0
    link is updated and a message is sent to the gcc list. Please do not use
    a snapshot before it has been announced that way.

    probably be Gaby's prerelease snapshots, and the release should come

    That's a good idea. You're right, there is no need to wait until
    the 4.0.4 release itself.
