    I have the standard
I added a 2.1gb hard drive a while ago and put it on my secondary IDE
as swap (simul-access YAY!). My FC4 box ran great. I found that any
more or less would run PPRacer (my test high-power app.) choppily, in
other words, totally un-playable. When I got an older computer (where
its 3gb drive would not hold 'doze and linux), I took the drive out and
transferred it. Without ANY swap, I expected that my linux would not
even boot (given that it wouldn't install without the 2gigs), let
alone even run PPracer for the test.
I found no difference in performance.
Why is that? Is it somehow finding swap in midair? When I swapped 256mb
for it, it would barely move! And yet it has none and works fine!
Any reasons for this strange miracle?

Maybe you could reword that. I don't know about anyone else but I
don't get what you are saying or asking.

My computer, with no swap, runs as good as it does with 2gb of swab,
but a lot better than with, say, 256mb of swap (with all the
    circumstances mentioned.)

    Why?
