I've also mentioned this in the Firefox Support web forum:
I'd like a "Fit to window width" feature in Firefox (like 's). This
feature would be very useful when, for example, viewing a web page optimized
    for 1024 x 768 resolutions on a user's display set to 800 x 600 resolution.
When Fit to window width is activated, a large page would shrink so the user
would be able to view the entire page left to right in the browser window
    without having to scroll right.
My display can go up to 1024x768, but I choose to keep it at 800x600. Some
users are limited to 800x600, or even 640x480.

There really aren't that many people limited to 800x600 any more. I
simply choose to use 1024x768, but a great percentage of users tend to
be at 1280x960 (or x1024) these days, particularly as that's the typical
native resolution of flat panel displays.

Also, auto-fitting doesn't work as well as you might hope, and even
opera's one size fits all method causes squeezed pages on a lot of sites.

With displays, particularly CRT's going for what they do nowadays, you
should consider upgrading your display. 1024x768 on a 19" CRT will give
you heaps of visibility (the major complaint for users when they up
their res is the smaller graphics), and a little more screen real
estate. A nice 85+ refresh rate will be welcomed by your eyes too,
unless you're already using a flat panel.

Display width != window width. Just because the display happens to be 1024 or
1280 pixels wide, that's no reason to design sites to fill that; some people
prefer narrower windows regardless. I could have a terminal window or a filer
window open (in the same viewport) without it obscuring any of the browser
    window

Why use Firefox if even with extensions, it cannot surpass ?
I use even if I'm an Source developer on both the Linux and
    Windows Platform.
The thing is - you cannot modify the source code of Mozilla to make it
render an entire page into a specific resolution. That's impossible
unless there's a serious revamping of the original Mozilla code which I
remind you is a bunch of hassling codes which consist of some lines
which are not even documented. I think the guys did not know the
concept of Modular Programming. Anyway, I suggest we all move to
and try to re-create or adapt its ERA rendering technology to Mozilla.
I don't want to offend anyone but those who actually believe that
Mozilla or Firefox is better than , then you're losers. Sorry, but
that must be said. Try and you'll see the difference.

I find IE 7b even better at rendering than Mozilla and Firefoz. But
    remains the best.

Don't follow the mass! Use better software based on intelligent
    conclusions.

Hi. You are the only Loser herebecause you call others losers
because they don't agree with you.
I have tried , and I still like Firefox better. Some others will
disagree, and thats ok. Everyone has
their own opinion and that MUST be respected (as you obviously do
not). People like the software that
they like for their own reasons, and you calling them losers because
they don't like or use the same softwareyou use
will not make them change their minds. It will only make them mad.
Suggesting that people try is not a bad thing.
But your insulting attitde and name calling ARE bad things and are NT
    needed here.

I might just mention that I don't actually design websites, other than
one or two static pages on a site that's best left ignored these days. ;)

I'm especially excited by this sentence:

Hint: Internet Explorer is still the user agent reported by the majority
of web traffic. People who use Firefox do not "follow the mass" (by
which I'm sure you meant "follow the masses"). Sentences like that hurt
    your argumentative ethos. =)
