    Hi,
I'm trying to implement a notification pop-up (possibly extending knotify)
that executes the effect of when, in Kubuntu 6.10, a user hovers their mouse
over the date/time on the panel, and gets a pretty pop-up.
Does anyone know where the code for that lives? It doesn't work on my Gentoo
system with KDE 3.5.6, and I can't find the code for it in SVN.
I want to use it to add options to akregator and kmail to allow for that
little pop-up to show with a preview of a message upon receiving a new
    message.
Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

I'm going to give it a go using KPassivePopup, although I know that this isn't
the dialog I was looking for; when I do find the one used by the Kubuntu
panel clock, I should be able to just switch it over.

the header isn't installed (no binary compat promises) so you'd likely have to
copy the thing over wholesale (of course, unless you are adding it to
    something in kdebase).

Great, thanks Aaron. Do you think it'd be advantageous to add that to
KDialog? maybe just abstract it out somehow to kdelibs?

Since I'd like to use it for kdepim apps, it being in kdebase w/o a header
isn't very useful. And isn't it the KDE way to abstract out as much as
possible (thus the reason for Solid)? :D

i don't think it makes sense in kdialog, no =)

for 3.5 it's too late, and for 4 it's a bit early. it's in libplasma and the
header is installed, though that means a dependency on kdebase/workspace
    which probably isn't great.

i would like to wait a bit and see what this class actually becomes for 4.0.
moving it to somewhere with a bit more API commitment requirement is
    premature right now.

Alright, that makes sense. And yeah I meant the change for 4, not 3.5. I'll
keep a watch on it, but for now, as soon as I get akregator or kmail to even
start, I'll see about applying the change with something already available,
    then just changing it later.
    Thanks.

That's not specific to Kubuntu, it's in KDE 3.5's Kicker.

Yeah I thought that was probably the case, but it wasn't showing up on my
Gentoo machine for some reason, so I thought I'd specify the distro. I
was able to find it though. Thanks!
