  • New TB doesn't show messages in main panel

After a bit of a wait, I installed the Thunderbird 1.5rc1, which I
find doesn't seem to display messages in the usual panel in the
main window. If I double click on a message, it does appear in
a new window, and these messages look normal. But, of course,
that leaves the desktop cluttered with mail and news messages.
And the message panel in the main window remains blank.
Since this release has been out for a while, I'm guessing that
either this behavior has been noticed by others, or there is some
setting on my machine that needs to be changed.
Anyone know how I might fix this?

There is no problem from here. Try Safe Mode, just to see if you have a
problem extension. Switch to the default theme, if you are not using it
    already.

Unfortunately, I no longer have a problem with it, either ;-)

This afternoon, my PB got itself into a state such that nearly everything
was in a "(Hung)" state according to Activity Monitor. Nothing at all
was responding, nothing could be killed, and the cpu wasn't even busy.
I could hear that the disk was very busy, but I couldn't tell why, because
    nothing was running.

So I rebooted. When I restarted TB, it worked just fine. So now I can
do some experimenting with the new feechurz, I guess. I can already
see the spell checker at work on that previous sentence, and it also
objected to my use of "cpu" above (and here). Now to see if there's some
way to add those words to its dictionary Yup; I found the place. It's
starting to look like a few things have improved.

But I suppose I'll never know why it wasn't displaying the messages
    yesterday. Unless it happens again.

Gee, I'm sorry its working, I mean I'm glad its working, I mean

    I'm so confused.

a system issue then, enjoy TB!

Heh; yeah. thing I've learned over and over is that reboots are
usually disastrous if you're trying to debug a problem, because they
wipe out the evidence. This just means that the problem will still
lurk in there somewhere, waiting to pop up at the least convenient
    moment.

    We'll see.
