ServiceLocator versus the bindingstub

Hello:
I have just started out some samples with axis1.4.
When the wsdl2java is run for a wsdl, it generates the ServiceLocator as
well the BindingStub. Trying to understand the advantages of using the
ServiceLocator rather than using the BindingStub directly.
