I'll have to post this again when I run across it. It was more than 3
days ago and I don't remember.

You can spoof a Web server to think your browser is another
browser. There are several ways to do this. I use the PrefBar
extension. It has a User Agent selection list, the contents of
which can be altered to whatever browser you want.

To see a list of user agents, go to
    <>.

    User Agent Switcher extension

FYI this is what I use for the "Netscape" User-Agent string in User Agent Switcher.

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040804 Netscape/7.2 (ax)

I ran across a site the other day which told me that I was
using Firefox but the site only supported IE, Netscape and
Mozilla, not Firefox. User Agent Switcher let me in.
I thought the webmaster must be thick as, because I would
expect complete HTML compatibility between Firefox and Mozilla.
Unfortunately I don't remember the URL.

    Whats the site?

Easiest way to spoof the UA is an extension, such as User Agent Switcher.

That link displays really bad in firefox 1.0. It has what looks to be a menu
on top of the main boyd of text. Something with the CSS is probably incorrect.

At the top of the page are menu links. If I mouse-over a link, a
pull-down list appears. But those lists do not otherwise cover the
    main body of text.

It appears that the page uses frames. At the left of the page is a
list of links, in a fixed frame that does not scroll. The main
part of the page is a scrollable frame, horizontal scrolling can
indeed cause the text to go behind the left frame. This has never
been a problem for me because the text that I need in the main part
of the page is always visible without scrolling.
