Although a free edition, it (sadly) has expired and therefore I am not able
to manual update this wonderful (on-demand scanning) application anymore.
I downloaded again but the application does not install properly. I then
uninstalled everything including all folders found by Agent Ransack and
registry items found by Registry Mechanic. Still, BD8 will download &
install (installation takes an unusual long time though) but will indicate
    that it has expired.
I contacted BD forum but nobody seems to have the answer except the good
people from BD sent me an e-mail message suggesting purchasing their new
    BD10 version.
Is there anything else I could do/try to reinstate this free version of BD ?
    TIA.

go to windows folder and click on file to run Regedit.exe. once Regedit is
on screen click on my computer then Edit tab and click Find

    type in softwin
    click find next
    delete all findings

that will manually get rid of it.
perhaps find Bitdefender as well as meantioned earlier.

Many thanks, Kenny. Your advise was most helpful; the newly installed BD8
    works wonderfully.
    Thanks again and best regards,

I think my question was polite and well intentioned. Your "reply" was
    inappropriate.
You fit the description of a person who posts messages in order to provoke
    an
angry response or to start trouble without adding anything worthwhile to the
    conversation - Troll!
Next time don't be such a "jerk".

Yes it was and because of your initial post, I am now going to get
BitDefender, free version. Remember, you also got three decent
    responses as of this writing.

Just ignore the jerks, and believe me, there are many out there.

    Good luck,

It's easy to see why he may be confused with the irrelevant text snipped.
