    If PortAudioStream were to inherit from NS, there would be no problem
    since the "stream" pointer would in fact be an id.

    I'm so sorry Greg, but it isn't so.
    PortAudio has nothing to do with NS as it's a plain C bunch of
    functions that doesn't inherit from anything.
