    this is what I do all the time - and I never have problems (ok, I don't use
    dimap, but imap, and only kmail as client - server is courier imap).
    so your experience seems a bit add to me -
    maybe your server is somehow broken ?

    The difference between using IMAP and dIMAP here is significant.
    dIMAP is local copies of the messages, and is going to suffer the
    same problems as when any other local folders are accessed by multiple
    clients.

    IMAP is the way to go if you want more than one client to access the
    folders. Filtering is easy in current versions of IMAP, anyway, so I
    don't see what you might gain but speed by using dIMAP.
