    I just loaded 12.4(7a) onto a spare 7206VXR with a NPE-300 in
it, and I get the above message in sh ver. I can't find
anything obvious on the Cisco site indicating if a particular
IS release is supported on a specific CPU. Does anyone know
the current supported IS on the NPE-300?
The NPE-300 went End-of-Sale 31dec01. End of Software Maintenance
was 31dec04. Software support ended with: 12.2(15)T, 12.0(29)S,
    12.1(19)E, and 12.3(10b).
I guess the other question is - Does it mean it's not
supported, in that, they won't open TAC cases on it, or that
it's going to blow up in new and wonderful ways? Seems to be
    working happily so far
    End of Support is 31dec06.

I've passed this on to the product PM's to clean up.

The EL Product Bulletin is the final word. It was amended
to include the actual final release versions to try and be
    more clear.

yet the cisco docs quote NPE-300 in 12.4 guides and even have a copy and

    Hi Rodney

What is the official word on the NPE-225 ?

I couldn't find an ES announcement for it yet it warns about not being
    supported on 12.4T:

That's a cosmetic problem I saw them mention the other day
and are supposed to be removing that from the 'sh ver'.

    They accidentally included it.

Regarding the NPE-300, I understand that the EL Product Bulletin is the
final word and software support ended with: 12.2(15)T, 12.0(29)S, 12.1(19)E,
and 12.3(10b), but will 12.3(latest GD) still work properly, albeit
unsupported? Does the roadmap dicate when the supporting code will be
    removed? Thanks.

I'm running 12.4(8) on an unsupported NPE-300 and it works just fine
doing some basic routing stuff (DS-3, FE, DS-1).

Now, I'm not going to upgrade our ADSL gear to 12.4 any time soon, since
if that freaks out, too many people will bitch at me. That said, I'd
like to find a version of IS for the NPE-300 that supports kron
