    Sherlock,
Dont you think that CMMI relates more to the management processes
when compared with XP which is more towards implementation? If that
is true, then how can CMMI help apply XP processes. It would be more
like assisting XP rather than applying/implementing it.

    Hi,
We are taking the reverse appraoch. The company I work for has CMMI
level 5 and in the spirit of the 5th level, we are looking
    at "coitnuous
improvement" in terms of what adds business value. With this in
    mind,
Agile methods are our current area of interest.
customers, especially the Business ones (compared to technology
companies) insist on certifications before even considering for the
bidding process. Hence, large organizations are implementing CMMI
atleast to stay in the race.
However, IMH, CMMI does bring some framework to implement any
    process,
    even XP into an organization.

My ears must have been burning, because I don't read this list

and now I have to bite : from which part of my writing did
    you learn
    the
passive-aggressive approach to instilling a methodology? and how
    did you
    get
that to work? (If it works for you, I'd like to learn how to do
    it :)

(p.s. I find it incredibly scary when someone decides
    to "transcend"
    agile -
I get the impression you do also)

I agree with you Victor. That was an earlier approach I did in
    fact take
and it was working for some time. That's how we started getting
    scrum
and element of XP in our shop.
    I admit, I took a somewhat passive-aggressive approach. I
    learned that
    from reading Alistair Cockburn actually.
I think some of our management has decided to "transcend" agile
    at this
point. We do have a solid person in the east coast that seems
    open to
it; I'm hoping she'll be persuasive. I'm also trying to get
    more quality
people in the company to help advocate agile.
