    Hi,
    could you give more details about what happens when there's the cd drive
    in ahci mode ?

    It just hangs and won't recognize any input from either a USB or PS/2
    keyboard. I've been moving stuff around on my hard drive, so once I get
    my mbr problems fixed I'll use a serial console to see if I can get a
    backtrace.

    I can't get the serial console to respond to any keystrokes, either.
    Perhaps my null modem cable isn't a null modem cable.
