It's not a virus. It's adware. Try running AdAware since your registry
is probably affected as well. It may clean out the annoyance.

No :) Wish things were that easy. If you have a clean System Restore
point going back to such a time, you can (probably) restore Windows
and get rid of it that way.
scanners you might try include Ewido, Spybot S&D,
Superantispyware and a trial of Super Utilities. Just Google them
up.
