Hi I have tried putting the FQDN in both the etc/hosts and sendmail.cf file, i stopped and restarted sendmail and also typed newaliases, but when i send a mail it is still trying to connect to the ols.com relay server.
How can i check if relaying enabled on my server? i assume it is coz it is trying to relay to old.com.
Please advice.

Hi,
I have an old machine which send out mail if a filesystem gets full or
other such events. It suddenly stopped sending mails.
on checking the sendmail.cf file i saw that it was using an old mail
>server which was no longer in use (say old.com). i changed it to the
>current mail sever (say new.com). But i am still not able to get the
>mail to work.
after the above changes i did 'newaliases' and i stopped and restarted
the sendmail process.
here is the output of:
root@support>
sendmail -v testuser (AT) polar (DOT) com < /etc/motd
root setsender: uid/gid =3D 0/0
testuser (AT) polar (DOT) com Connecting to old.com.tcp
testuser (AT) polar (DOT) com Connecting to old.com (tcp)
testuser (AT) polar (DOT) com Host unknown
Saving message in //dead.letter
//dead.letter Can't create output
root@support>
I see that it is still trying to connect to old.com, why is this=20
happening? i have removed all entries of old.com form the sendmail.cf=20
file. Please advice why this is happening.
