Derek,
Were you able to install the Samba binaries? I used gcc to compile the
Samba source without a problem. If you have an AIX compiler that should
work also.

Hi Lev,
I am currently trying to install Samba 3.0.14a, the problem is i only
have downloaded the source codes and now needs to compile it. I can
not compile it as it complains about following:
# ./configure
SAMBA VERSIN: 3.0.14a
checking for gcc no
checking for cc no
checking for cc no
checking for cl no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH See
`config.log' for more details.
I am not able to download gcc from
for some reason it's not found.
Where can i download a CMPILED VERSIN for Samba 3.0.14a for AIX 5.2?
Please help as i am going crazy finding solutions everywhere on the
web! :)
Thank you for your time & help in advance.
Derek.

Hi All!
I put in /etc/rc.d/rc2.d my own script S50samba (with start, stop,
>restart, status parameters). init level of my system is 2.
When the system is bootted I see in smbd log file that smbd has
>started succesfully. But ps -ef after boot doesn't show smbd.
Looks like something killed smbd, because when I manualy run=20
'/etc/rc.d/rc2.d/S50samba start' everything is K.
I am new in AIX and any help will be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Lev
