Just in case anyone missed it, there have been two releases of TT
recently which only seem to have been "announced" in someone's use.perl
    journal.
    http://use.perl.org/~Alias/journal/32236 [2.16]
    http://use.perl.org/~Alias/journal/32348 [2.17]
These weren't made by Andy, he seems to be busy elsewhere but it is good
to see some RT issues being addressed.
I can't find any discussion of these issues, the lack of contact from Andy
nor a plea to get in touch in the list archives which is a little
disappointing. I would have thought here was a good place to try.
Anybody know any more about this ?
    Simon.

Are these going up on CPAN? 2.15 is the last I can pull down.

Suggests that they are. Is your mirror stale ?

Yes, just chatted to Alias about why he didn't announce to the list, in
fact. Reply: "TT has a mailing list?" (hmpf)

Anyway, Andy appears to be AWL, and he really wanted some minor issues
with the Makefile/deps cleaned up, so he released them. He's not looking
to apply patches or lib changes unless Andy remains AWL for a lot
    longer

There are no changes apart from on certain installs, see the Changes file
    for info.

I saw that in his reply to my journal comment too and thought the same but
on looking at the docs it isn't obvious that there is a mailing list.

The website at www.tt2.org lists one but that's not linked from the docs
either as far as I can see.

IIRC, Andy has a rather complex set of source files that are used to build
the docs for a release so what's on CPAN is not enough to do the whole
job. Do you know if Alias used the CVS version ?

    #cvs

Although I suspect that the small changes wouldn't be affected by this.

Don't get me wrong, I've very happy to have someone step up and contribute
in such a way, I was just commenting on the lack of announcement to the
list. I'm amazed that someone could care enough to get joint
maintainership WITHUT coming across the mailing list. IT was more of a
social than a technical observation :-)

Although Andy Wardley hasn't posted to Templates since 9th December, I
have seen an email from him (to a less public list) as recently as
    Tuesday morning.

But he does tend to be a very busy lad

I also wonder if Adam's versions were from cvs or from the 2.15
    release.

Does Andy want to put what time he might have into TT3? Maybe TT2
should be put up someplace where more development can happen -- and
happen as a group so there are not different versions floating around.

I suspect there's a large base of TT2 users so changes will come up.

I'm running my own version now, as well, to handle patches I've posted
-- one just recently that was warnocked.

That is possible. I will check to make sure.

The CVS version is available online:

    http://tt2.org/download.html#cvs

That page appears to suggest that Andy would be inclined towards giving
out commit bits so hopefully some other folk can get involved.

I can't speak for Andy but he is around and I'm sure he'll catch up with
this thread soon. I think he's just really, really busy at the moment.

I don't know any of these people but it appears that 'alias' is called
Adam Kennedy and I see from my mail archive that an Adam Kennedy posted
to this list in 2004, so that Adam Kennedy is clearly aware of the list.
    Are there two Adam Kennedys?

The journal says: "modules (AT) perl (DOT) org has assigned me co-maint permission
on TT on a temporary basis". I'm amazed that nobody there is aware of
    the list either!

Since everybody is now aware of the list and since Simon Matthews says
that he and others have commit bits, perhaps it would be sensible if any
discussions and release proposals took place - or were summarised - on
this list. It would certainly be beneficial for users.
