hosts=local,bind
After that, logout and login again to see the difference.

AIX will use reverse name lookups as an aditional security method to confirm that the host trying to connect is who really is.
What i did in a similar situation in a farm of p690 based LPARs was to create a DNS only-cache server and have all LPARs query that DNS. Improvements in login response.
